The WPX Staging Area lets you create a safe, test version of your website\u2014so you can experiment freely without affecting your live site. Whether you\u2019re tweaking a theme, testing a plugin, or rebuilding your layout, the Staging Area gives you a secure space to develop with peace of mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can create an exact copy of your live website, make changes or improvements in a safe environment, and later deploy those changes back to the live site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note:<\/strong> Deploying the staging site to the live site will completely replace the existing live site content with the content from the staging site. Any changes made directly to the live site that are not present on the staging site will be permanently lost after deployment. If you need to preserve recent changes, make sure to back up or export the live site’s data before deploying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another benefit of using a staging website is that it allows you to redevelop your website or migrate it from a different CMS to WordPress without taking your live website offline. This provides a safe environment to build and test the new version before making it publicly available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, if your current website is built with HTML and you want to redesign it using WordPress without taking it offline, you can use the WPX Staging Area to build the new WordPress version in the background.

Your staging copy is created on a subdomain, so there is no complex technical setup required. You can access and work on it directly from your browser, just like a regular website. However, there is no need to worry about it affecting your SEO, as staging websites are not indexed by search engines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are the limitations of creating a Staging copy?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

1. The Staging copy uses one website slot<\/strong> from your WPX WordPress hosting plan.
However, if you’re on a WooCommerce plan, the Staging copy does not<\/strong> count toward your website slot limit!<\/em>

2. Your website\u2019s database must be under 1 GB.<\/strong>
If it exceeds 1 GB, you won\u2019t <\/strong>be able to create a Staging version.

3. Deployment won\u2019t be possible if the database is too large.<\/strong>
If the Staging copy exceeds the 1 GB database limit, it cannot be deployed back into the live site.

4. The total file size must be under 5 GB.<\/strong>
If your website’s files exceed 5 GB in total, you won’t be able to create a Staging version.

5. WP Multisite is not supported.<\/strong>
The Staging Area cannot be used with WordPress Multisite installations.

6. You must have enough available disk space<\/strong> in your hosting plan to create the Staging copy.

7. Only one Staging copy per site<\/strong> is allowed at a time.

8. WordPress must already be installed<\/a><\/strong> on the website you’d like to copy into Staging.

9. Staging only works with WordPress websites<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
