In this guide, we\u2019ll show you how to restore your Live site after merging it with a Staging area.
Things don\u2019t always go as planned \u2014 so if something goes wrong during the merge or you just want to undo the changes, don\u2019t worry \u2014 you\u2019ve got options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can restore your Live site using a Personal Backup<\/a><\/strong> or an Automatic Backup Point<\/a><\/strong> \u2014 both available in your WPX control panel.
This is a common step if the merge is not successful or the Live site isn\u2019t working properly afterward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 1. Log in to your WPX account<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Begin by logging into your WPX account. You can do this by visiting the WPX login page<\/a>.\u200b<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2. Go to Control Panel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Once logged in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Locate your hosting plan in the WPX client area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Click the Control Panel<\/strong> button next to the plan you wish to manage.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    If you have more than five hosting plans of the same type (WordPress, Agency or WooCommerce), not all may appear on the homepage. Use the WordPress Hosting<\/strong>, Agency Hosting<\/strong> or WooCommerce Hosting<\/strong> tab in the left-hand menu to find your service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Step 3. Merge & Create Personal Backup<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    When merging your Staging area, you’ll have the option to create a Personal Backup of your Live site before starting the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    We highly recommend creating a Personal Backup before merging<\/strong>, especially if you’re making major changes. This gives you full control and a reliable restore point in case anything goes wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Navigate to the Staging<\/strong> section <\/strong>in your WPX Control Panel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Locate <\/strong>the Staging site you want to merge.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Click the Merge<\/strong> button next to it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Once you click the Merge<\/strong> button, a new section will appear. There, you\u2019ll see the option to create a backup before the merge, which is automatically checked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Restore Live Site: Personal Backup<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      If you need to restore your Live site after the merge, you can do so from the Backups<\/strong> menu in your Control Panel, under the Personal Backup <\/strong>section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Restore your Live Site: Automatic Backup <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      In case you didn\u2019t create a Personal Backup (or it got deleted because you made it more than 24 hours ago) but still need to restore your Live site, you can do so using our Automatic Backups<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Automatic backups are created once per day<\/strong>, so the latest backup might have been taken after<\/em> the merge.

      When selecting a date in the restore menu, you\u2019ll see basic options for restoring, along with the exact time the backup was created<\/strong>, displayed under Point age<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
