What is SMTP?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol,<\/strong> or SMTP, handles your outgoing mail. This protocol allows applications to transmit email messages over the Internet. Your email client connects to your mail server via SMTP and sends the messages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In short, the SMTP service allows you to prevent spam from being sent via our mail server, and it usually requires SMTP or domain authentication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most used SMTP providers <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

These services work with WordPress using SMTP plugins like WP Mail SMTP<\/a><\/strong> (if you want to check how to install and configure it on your site, please click here<\/a><\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here we’ll check the most common SMTP providers and what they need to authenticate the domain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sendinblue<\/strong> – You need to make an account first, and then you’ll get the necessary DNS records via e-mail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mailgun<\/strong> – Here you need to use a subdomain and DNS records to authenticate your domain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amazon SES<\/strong> – Here, you need to add an SPF and CNAME records.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do these SMTP services work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

First, you need registration for the service that you choose, and then they must provide you with clear instructions on what you need to do to authenticate the domain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In most cases, you need a couple of DNS records to add to your active DNS zone. Every SMTP service must provide you with the DNS records that need to be added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
