Email security is a critical aspect of any online business or organisation. Ensuring that only legitimate emails reach your recipients helps maintain trust and protect against phishing attacks. One of the tools at your disposal for this purpose is DMARC, which stands for Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance. In this article, we’ll walk you through setting up a DMARC record in WPX Hosting’s DNS Zone Editor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is a DMARC record?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A DMARC record is a TXT record in your DNS (Domain Name System) settings that instructs email receivers on handling messages from your domain. Essentially, it tells the recipient’s email server what to do if it receives a message claiming to be from your domain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 1. Log in to your WPX account<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Begin by logging into your WPX account. You can do this by visiting the WPX login page<\/a>.\u200b<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2. Go to Control Panel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Once logged in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Locate your hosting plan in the WPX client area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Click the Control Panel<\/strong> button next to the plan you wish to manage.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    If you have more than five hosting plans of the same type (WordPress, Agency or WooCommerce), not all may appear on the homepage. Use the WordPress Hosting<\/strong>, Agency Hosting<\/strong> or WooCommerce Hosting<\/strong> tab in the left-hand menu to find your service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Step 3. Go to the Edit DNS menu<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    In the Control Panel:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Select Edit DNS<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Choose the domain for which you want to set up DMARC.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Click on the + Create Record<\/strong> button to add a new DNS entry.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      Step 4: Add your DMARC TXT Record<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Fill out the following details to add the DMARC record to your DNS zone: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Type – TXT<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Host \u2013 _dmarc<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Value \u2013 v=DMARC1; p=reject; rua=mailto:email@your_domain.com<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Leave TTL blank for the default value. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Make sure to replace email@your_domain.com<\/code> with a valid email address at your domain where you’d like to receive DMARC reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Once entered, click Create<\/strong> to save the record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
