In this article, we will guide you through the process of migrating your Shopify site to WooCommerce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note that while the migration will successfully transfer your products and other data, it will not preserve your site’s design. After the migration is complete, you will need to either recreate your Shopify store’s design or choose a new WooCommerce template to start fresh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 1. Install WordPress<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Getting started with WordPress is quick and easy. At WPX Hosting, we offer a fully automatic process.<\/strong><\/a> installation process, allowing you to set up WordPress with minimal effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2. Install WooCommerce<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

  1. Select the Plugins <\/strong>section.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Click the Add New Plugin<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Type WooCommerce <\/em>into the search bar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Click Install Now <\/strong>to install the plugin on the site. <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    To activate the plugin, click Activate<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Step 3. Export Products From Shopify<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    To export your Shopify product data, go to your account and navigate to Product > All Products. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This page will show a complete list of all the products in your store. It also includes options to import and export data, and should look like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Select the Export <\/strong>button at the top of the screen, and Shopify will ask which products you want to export. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Click on All products <\/strong>and select the CSV for Excel, Numbers, or other spreadsheet programs <\/strong>option under Export as<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Once you click on Export products<\/strong>, Shopify will compile a CSV file including all your product data and send it to you via email. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    It might take a while to arrive, depending on how large your inventory is, and will include a link to download the CSV file that contains all of your product information:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Step 4. Import Shopify Products into WordPress<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    There are two ways that you can import Shopify products into WooCommerce. One method is to use the built-in product importer that WooCommerce has, and the other is through a migration service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    If you use the importer to add your products to WooCommerce, you\u2019re only importing products.<\/strong>

    All of your store\u2019s data, such as customers, order history, images, and reviews, will remain in Shopify. In essence, you\u2019re starting over using WooCommerce with your existing inventory and a blank store slate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In your WP admin dashboard: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Select Tools<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Choose the Import <\/strong>option from the dropdown <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Click the Run the Importer <\/strong>button below WooCommerce products (CSV).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      To import the file click the Choose File<\/strong> button, select the CSV file<\/strong> that you exported from Shopify, and click on Continue<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The next screen includes a couple of options for matching product data from the CSV file to WooCommerce fields. You can go through that list of options and decide which data you want to import into WooCommerce and which you\u2019re comfortable leaving out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \"\"\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t<\/svg>\n\t\t<\/button><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

      To complete the import, click on the Run the Importer <\/strong>button. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      WooCommerce will take a minute (or more) to import your Shopify product data. When the process is over, you\u2019ll see a success message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      WooCommerce won\u2019t import product images, so you must upload those manually. It’s highly recommended to check out each item entry to ensure it\u2019s not missing any critical information.

      If product data is missing, you can always rerun the importer and make sure you\u2019re porting the correct fields to WooCommerce. Overall, using the manual importer is not complicated, but it requires some micromanagement on your end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Step 5. Configure WordPress Permalinks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      WordPress enables you to decide your URL structure, including for WooCommerce products. The default WordPress URL structure is usually not very user-friendly, and it’s also not SEO-friendly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      To change your store\u2019s URL Structure, go to Settings > Permalinks > Product permalinks <\/strong>and select the option that you prefer:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The option that is recommended is the Standard structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      It\u2019s important to note that you need to choose a permalink structure when starting your WooCommerce store. Changing link structures at a later point can impact your site\u2019s SEO and cause errors within your website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Step 6. Update your Site’s design <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      At this point, you\u2019re still using one of the default WordPress Themes. Now you can choose if you want to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
