When signing up with us, you will be asked to choose a primary\/main domain for your hosting service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once added, that domain will be associated with your account and its main details, including file access username and password. If later on, you would like to change that domain to another one (i.e. add a new website), that can easily be done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keep in mind that you cannot change your Main Domain to a website already hosted in your account (i.e. an existing site).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Because the primary(main) domain is linked to your account, all of the main details are also connected to it and if another existing site replaces it, it will cause a system conflict. This means that the new main domain will have to be a completely new site or a migrated website from elsewhere. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We created this article to explain how you can change your main domain through the WPX admin panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 1. Log in to your WPX account<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Begin by logging into your WPX account. You can do this by visiting the WPX login page<\/a>.\u200b<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2. Go to Control Panel<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Once logged in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Locate your hosting plan in the WPX client area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Click the Control Panel<\/strong> button next to the plan you wish to manage.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    If you have more than five hosting plans of the same type (WordPress, Agency or WooCommerce), not all may appear on the homepage. Use the WordPress Hosting<\/strong>, Agency Hosting<\/strong> or WooCommerce Hosting<\/strong> tab in the left-hand menu to find your service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Step 3. Change the main domain<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Changing your main domain name from the panel will NOT change the database paths. You still have to run a \u201csearch and replace\u201d through your database to have a functioning website under the new domain name.

    To change the domain, follow these steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Click the Websites <\/strong>section<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Select Edit<\/strong> \u2013 This will open a new menu.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      1. Change the Domain<\/strong> \u2013 Enter the new domain in the provided text field.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Save Changes<\/strong> \u2013 Click Save Changes<\/strong> to apply the update.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Now with your new main site, you have a couple of options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. You can develop a completely new website<\/strong> from scratch. Here is how to install WordPress<\/strong><\/a> if you want to start fresh.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        2. You can<\/strong> fill out a migration request<\/strong><\/a> to move a website from another hosting to that slot.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        3. You can migrate a site yourself<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
