Transferring your domain to your hosting provider helps manage your online business by consolidating your services under one provider, eliminating the need to coordinate between separate companies.
Domain transfer itself is free, however, you need to renew the domain with your new domain registrar – WPX. The renewal price is different for every TLD.
Domain transfer and Website Migration
Domain transfer and website migration are two different operations. If you want to host your website with WPX but keep the domain name with another provider, that is possible.
Transferring a domain to WPX is possible, as long as the domain itself is NOT a country code top-level domain (such as .uk, .co.uk, .it, .de, .com.au, etc.), as we no longer support them on a registrar level.
We can host your websites with those specific TLDs, however, we won’t be able to manage your domain name here.

Domain transfer requirements
- You need to have a valid EPP key from your current domain registrar for this domain;
- The domain should be unlocked in your current domain registrar;
- You have to wait 60 days after the domain registration before proceeding with any transfers (as per ICANN policies).
The DNS records cannot be changed when the domain transfer process is ongoing. If you need to make any DNS changes, please apply those before you start the domain transfer.
Moving domain names between registers may take some time and once you initiate it, you may not be able to edit the DNS until it is over.
Before you start
To ensure a smooth transfer to WPX, follow these steps with your current registrar before initiating the transfer:
- Unlock your domain: Unlock the domain at your current registrar to enable the transfer to WPX.
- Obtain the authorization code: Get the authorization code (also known as auth code, EPP code, transfer code, or transfer key) from your current registrar.
- Verify contact information: Ensure the contact information on your domain is up-to-date. The administrator’s contact details may be used for communication during the transfer process.
Step 1. Log in to your WPX account
Begin by logging into your WPX account. You can do this by visiting the WPX login page.
Step 2. Go to the Domains menu
Once you log in to your WPX account, select the Domains menu (1) and then the Register or Transfer Domain button (2).

Step 3. Select the transfer option
To start the transfer, search (1) the domain name that you need to transfer to WPX and click on the Transfer (2) button next to it.
When the transfer option is selected, you will see a green cart next to it. To continue, click on it.
You’ll be redirected on a next page where you need to select the language (1) and then click on Continue (2). Here you will also have an option to Order hosting with this domain (3):
Step 4. Checkout process
Fill in the EPP Auth code (1) and click on the continue (2) button.
If you’re logged in to your WPX account, the information will be pre-filled for you. If everything looks correct proceed with the Checkout button.
Step 5. Pay the invoice for the transfer
Once you click on the checkout button, an invoice for the transfer will be generated. You need to pay the invoice to start the domain transfer process.

The domain should be on status Pending Transfer in your domains list.
