Is my Staging site cached and/or indexed?

The Staging site is a private test environment — a copy of your Live website where you can safely adjust themes, plugins, or layouts without affecting your main site. It’s hidden from search engines and public visitors.

Is my staging website using cache?

Your staging site is an exact copy of your live website — including all content and any cache plugins you’ve installed. It will use both plugin-generated and server-level cache based on your current setup.

WPX XDN cache is disabled by design and cannot be enabled on staging sites. This helps you test changes more easily without needing to clear cache or refresh constantly.

If you’re testing speed optimizations on the staging site, the results may not match what you’ll see on the Live site.
For this reason, we don’t recommend using the staging site for speed testing, as the results can be misleading. It’s best to contact our Support Team for guidance or submit an Optimization Request directly for your Live website.

Is my staging website being indexed?

By default, staging sites are not indexed by search engines (e.g. Google, Bing, etc.), both at the server level and via WordPress settings.

When creating the staging area, WordPress’s “Discourage search engines” option is automatically enabled to ensure it stays private.
