Giving Back: How WPX Hosting and Every Dog Matters EU Are Making a Difference Year-Round
WPX is proud to lead through its commitment to animal welfare, demonstrated by our nonprofit initiative, Every Dog Matters EU. This effort provides abandoned and abused dogs in Bulgaria with a second chance at life through a no-cage, open-yard sanctuary offering full medical care, emotional rehabilitation, and adoption support.
While our primary mission is delivering high-speed WordPress hosting, we also believe that businesses should play a direct role in solving real-world problems.
Why WPX Created Its Own Animal Welfare NGO?
One example of a company-driven charitable initiative comes from WPX, a web hosting provider whose co-founder, Terry Kyle, was inspired to act after moving to Bulgaria and witnessing the widespread suffering of stray dogs.
In his words,
“Some of these homeless dogs end up in government ‘shelters’ for the rest of their lives, which are more like concentration camps for dogs who did nothing wrong.”
He added that “dogs live entire lives alone in small cages or are in hopelessly overcrowded small group cages, deprived of everything they need for a full, healthy life.”
Rather than offering passive support or one-time donations, he launched his own nonprofit organization, Every Dog Matters EU, to address the issue directly. The initiative operates large, cage-free sanctuaries where rescued animals are rehabilitated and rehomed, funded in part by WPX’s hosting revenues.
Fighting for Forgotten Animals Across Eastern Europe
WPX actively promotes animal welfare as a core company value. In response to what he saw as inhumane shelter conditions, Terry began rescuing dogs directly. This initiative eventually led to the creation of Every Dog Matters EU in 2019, a nonprofit that formalized and expanded WPX’s commitment to animal welfare.
By 2020, Every Dog Matters had built a 27,000 m² open-yard sanctuary that eliminated the small-cage model common in Eastern European shelters. The space currently houses over 140 dogs and emphasizes personalized care, including medical treatments, hydrotherapy, and positive reinforcement training based on each dog’s personality and needs.
According to Kyle, “We are trying to build the world’s best dog shelter for dogs,” and nearly all rescued animals are made adoptable through this structured, holistic care.
Building a Long-Term Future for Every Dog Matters EU
While the organization began with immediate rescue and rehabilitation efforts, its broader goal is to redefine how animal shelters operate, focusing on space, medical care, emotional recovery, and advocacy. This mission is documented in Dog Shelter Diary, a weekly video series that shares the real-life experiences of rescued dogs and the team that supports them.
The organization’s daily impact is visible, and its long-term goals are focused on scalability, sustainability, and legislative reform. These include building a new quarantine area to strengthen on-site medical capabilities, demonstrating the effectiveness of no-cage, open-yard sanctuaries as a replicable global model, and expanding rescue, rehoming, and castration programs to reduce stray populations.
Every Dog Matters also lobbies for stronger animal welfare laws and enforcement, while promoting education through school visits and public awareness campaigns (including how businesses can follow WPX’s example of dog-friendly office culture).
There are additional field efforts, such as feeding hundreds of stray dogs at an abandoned industrial site and co-sponsoring a shelter in Veliki Preslav. Internally, WPX allows employees to volunteer at the shelter during work hours.
Because after all, the real recipients are the dogs who are given the chance to heal, thrive, and find a home.

We strongly believe that small actions from individuals can create a global ripple effect. Supporting Every Dog Matters EU can inspire many WPX clients to get involved, not only by donating but by taking action in their own communities.
Anyone might begin with a virtual adoption of a rescue dog, and then become more engaged with local shelters or start raising awareness about animal cruelty online.
Every Dog Matters EU operates entirely on private donations and receives no government funding. Yet, through the support of individuals for virtual adoptions or supply donations from our wishlist, rescue dogs are fed, treated, and rehabilitated.
Our hope is that WPX clients across the globe will not only support this work in Bulgaria but also be inspired to help dogs in their own regions. Real Impact: From Bulgaria to Beyond
Some of the most meaningful outcomes of our work at Every Dog Matters EU have been seeing our rescue dogs not only survive but go on to thrive in loving homes across Europe. Sarina (now in Ottobrunn), Luna (Berlin), Linc (Devon), Adora (Breux), Zelda (Lincolnshire), and many now live full, happy lives with loving families.
Equally impactful has been our ability to foster public engagement through community-driven initiatives. Our seasonal second-hand bazaars, where supporters donate or purchase items to raise funds for the shelter.
