What are Personal Backups?
Personal Backups are custom backup points of your website that are only kept for 24 hours, as WPX Hosting automatically backs up all your websites daily (for 28 days).
- The personal backups are kept for 24 hours, and then they’re automatically deleted by the system.
- Personal backups take up your disk space.
- You can have one personal backup per website simultaneously.
These are also known as on-demand backup options, allowing you to initiate a backup whenever needed, independent of the automatic daily backups.
Step 1. Log in to your WPX account
Begin by logging into your WPX account. You can do this by visiting the WPX login page.
Step 2. Go to Control Panel
Once logged in:
- Locate your hosting plan in the WPX client area.
- Click the Control Panel button next to the plan you wish to manage.
If you have more than five hosting plans of the same type (WordPress or WooCommerce), not all may appear on the homepage. Use the WordPress Hosting or WooCommerce Hosting tab in the left-hand menu to find your service.
Step 3. Go to the Backups menu
Within the Control Panel:
- Select Backups to open the Backup Manager.
- Then, from the dropdown, select your website.
Step 4. Create a Personal Backup
Click +Create Personal Backup to back up your website.
If a Personal Backup already exists for the site, creating a new one will overwrite the previous version. You can only have one active Personal Backup per website at a time.
Select the type of backup you want to create for the site:
- Files Backup: Provides the option to only backup the files (content) of your website without the database.
- Database Backup: Provides the option to backup the database of your website without the files.
- Full Backup: Provides the option to fully backup both Files and the Database of your website.
In this example, we’ll create a full backup. You can close the In Progress notification and continue working in the Control Panel.
When the backup is completed, you will receive a notification.
Personal Backup Options
Now that you have your Backup, you will see 3 action buttons next to it. You can use the backup to restore your site, download it to keep it safe on your device, or delete it to free up disk space.
Note that Personal Backups are automatically deleted after 24 hours to free your hosting disk space.
