What is our Migration Policy?

At WPX, we make moving your website over to us easy and free. Our team will handle everything for you, making sure it all goes smoothly.

Along with our free standard migration. We offer two extra options for those who need something a bit more specific:t:

• Express Migration – Our Express Migration puts your site at the front of the line, so you don’t have to wait around
• Domain Name Change Migration – If you’re changing your domain, we’ll take care of everything for you, handling all the adjustments so your website

The following points state WPX’s current policy on Site Migrations:

WPX provides free standard website migration for all active hosting customers.

To request a migration, you must:

1. Have an active WPX account.
2. Have an available website slot on your hosting plan.
3. Submit a separate migration request for each individual website.
4. Ensure there is sufficient disk space available for the migration.
5. Do not make any changes during the migration process, as they may not be transferred over to WPX.
6. Please note that we migrate sites exactly as they are. Any changes to URLs during the process would require our paid migration service.

Email migration is included in our free migration service.

If changes are made during propagation and a website must be re-migrated, a $98 USD (excl. VAT) fee will apply.

2. Post-Migration Requirements

After a migration is completed:

• You are responsible for updating your domain nameservers at your domain registrar.
• If applicable, you must update MX records to ensure proper email functionality.
• DNS propagation can take up to 24–48 hours. Do not make changes during this time, or you risk data loss.

3. Paid Migration Services

a. Express Migration – $100 USD (excl. VAT)

• Places your request at the front of the queue.
• Ideal for urgent transfers or time-sensitive moves.
• Full details are available in our Express Migration Guide.

b. Domain Name Change Migration – $98 USD (excl. VAT)

• Applies when migrating to a different domain or subdomain.
  • Examples: abc.com → 123.com, shop.abc.com → blog.abc.com
• Includes extensive database reconfiguration.
• Not guaranteed due to potential URL encoding conflicts.
  • In such cases, a full refund will be issued.

Free if moving between staging domains, like .wpengine.com, .cloudwaysapps.com, etc.

4. Re-Migrations

• A re-migration is defined as a second migration of the same website due to:
  • Changes made during the original migration.
  • Additional modifications during DNS propagation.
  • Any other reason not caused by WPX (e.g., customer-side changes, external plugin interference, or third-party developer actions).
• Re-migration is a paid service: $98 USD (excl. VAT) within 365 days of original migration.

5. WP Multisite Migrations

• Supported: Multisite to Multisite (same structure).
• Not Supported:
  • Standard WordPress to Multisite.
  • Domain changes during Multisite migration.
  • Extracting a single site from a Multisite.
• Unsupported migrations are not offered, free or paid.

6. Internal WPX Account Migrations

• Migration from one WPX server to another is added to our internal queue.
• Notification is sent via email when the migration begins.
• Do not make website changes during this process.
• Any changes that require re-migration will incur the standard $98 USD fee.

Some older PHP versions (e.g., 5.6) may require updates to function correctly on newer WPX servers.

7. Non-WordPress Migrations

• WPX specializes in WordPress-only hosting.
• Migrations of websites built with platforms such as:
  • Drupal, Joomla, Magento, PrestaShop: Attempted but not guaranteed.
  • Squarespace, Wix: Not supported; migration requests will be declined.
• Custom-coded websites outside WordPress are not eligible for our migration service.

8. Website Security During Migration

• All sites are scanned for malware before completion.
• If malware is found, WPX’s Security Team will clean the site for free.
• Cleaning may extend the migration timeline from 24 hours to up to 72 hours.

WPX strictly prohibits websites containing pornographic, illegal, or inappropriate content, including file sharing and torrent services.

9. Email Migrations

• Included for free with website migrations.
• For third-party email services (e.g., Zoho, Google Workspace), provide accurate DNS records in the migration form.
• Failure to submit correct DNS records may result in improper configuration.

Acceptance of Terms

By requesting a migration, you agree to abide by the terms outlined in this document. WPX reserves the right to modify these terms at any time, with or without notice.
