Is site migration to WPX Free & is Email included?

Absolutely! Migrating your website to WPX is completely free, as long as you meet our Site Migration Policy. We focus on delivering a fast and straightforward migration experience, so you can get back to your business without any complications. Typically, your site will be migrated within 24 hours once we have all the necessary details from your end. And just to show how much we care about your site’s security — every website migrating to WPX is automatically scanned for malicious code. If we detect any malware, our security team will take care of it for you, free of charge. Just keep in mind that this may extend the migration time from 24 to 72 hours, depending on the complexity.

As part of your WPX hosting, email is included at no extra cost. Our email service is fast and reliable, making sure your communication runs smoothly. That said, we know some customers prefer using services like Google Workspace or Zoho for better performance, and that’s totally fine. If you decide to stick with our email service, we’ll make sure the transition is easy. Just let us know how you’re currently set up — whether it’s Google Apps, Gmail, Thunderbird, or Outlook — and we’ll take care of the rest.

When Is Site Migration Not Free?

At WPX, we offer free website migration, regardless of the number or size of the sites you need to move. However, there are certain situations where additional services and charges apply:

Migration with a domain name change

If you are moving an established site to a completely new domain (e.g., abc.com to 123.com or shop.abc.com to 123.com/shop), this migration becomes more complex. It involves significant database editing due to URL changes, which can be time-consuming.

The option is ideal for both new and existing customers looking to update their business identity with a new domain name.

This type of migration is considered a paid service and costs $98 USD (excluding VAT).

Please note that migrations involving a change of domain name are not always 100% guaranteed due to the possibility of hard-coded URLs within the website’s database. If we are unable to complete the migration for this reason, you will receive a full refund of the amount paid for the service.

Website Re-migration

Any re-migration of a website that is not due to a WPX mistake is considered a paid migration.

Such cases include, but are not limited to:

  • Remigration of a website that has already been migrated to us for the past 365 days (migration of the same website)
  • Changes made during the original migration – If you’ve made any changes during the migration, they may not be migrated. If you request our team to migrate the changes, that’s considered a paid migration (immigration).
  • Additional modifications are made during the DNS propagation.
  • Any other reason not caused by WPX (e.g., customer-side changes, external plugin interference, or third-party developer actions).

For such cases, WPX charges migrations cost $98 USD (excl. VAT) per site. 

Express Migration

Express Migration is the option that allows you to skip the migration queue, and our Migration Experts will complete your migration request as soon as possible opposed to the standard 24 hours. This option is perfect for new WPX customers who need a quick escape from their current host.

If you have selected the Express Migration service, as per our Terms of Service, this is considered a paid service, and the cost of an Express Migration is US$100 (VAT Excl.).

What about WP Multisite migrations?

If you are moving an existing Multisite installation from another hosting company to WPX as a Multisite installation here, then that IS a free migration that we DO handle for you.

However, if you are moving a normal, single WP installation from another hosting company to WPX as a Multisite installation here, we do NOT offer that service, either as a free or a paid migration, and such a migration is NOT recommended – it is likely to be highly problematic and NOT currently supported here, sorry.

What about Email migrations?

Our free migration service DOES include your emails from your old host, BUT if you are using a 3rd party email provider like Zoho or Google Apps, you need to point that out in the migration request.

If you have not provided us with the correct 3rd party email records, we cannot add those during the migration process.
